Missing Link Photo: The Truth Is Out There
Speaking of nature photography, have you seen the image of the new "missing link" fossil now on view at the American Museum of Natural History in New York? This fossil, which is 47 million years old, is said by scientists to the earliest human ancestor--a link between the animals that became homo sapien and other mammals. It's a controversial theory, but very exciting, and the announcement is being pumped up with considerable marketing muscle. The fossil is called Ida ("eeda"), and when you gaze at the images of it, you understand the primordial fear evoked by the creature in the Alien films.--David Schonauer

I'd appreciate if you guys refrain from linking to such biased and close-minded content such as that put out by worldnetdaily.com.
A cursory glance over their site is enough to assess their rather extreme viewpoints. In their featured content is an article named "Our president – the neo-Marxist", an article stating that "Violence is part of any transient, chemically abusing, lust-based culture, and it is only natural that the homosexual movement strives to hide the truth." and sells dvds that allegedly show that Darwin, "evolutionary theory's founder should share with Adolph Hitler the blame for the Holocaust".
Could you not have found some less ridiculous supporting articles on CNN or NYT?

Worldnetdaily is correct on all points. Deal with it.
Quick story: As late as the 1940's, you could buy a permit in Australia to hunt aborigine's. This was a direct result of Darwin's theory; the aborigine's were thought to be much evolved than white men.

sorry about the typo, should read ' This was a direct result of Darwin's theory; the aborigine's were thought to be much LESS evolved than white men.'

Obviously no scientists actually said that this was the "earliest human ancestor". That makes no sense.
And, the controversy isn't over the basic theory (as the WorldNetDaily would have you believe), but over the relative importance of this particular discovery. WorldNetDaily seems to slant the story so it looks like creationists are digging to find the real, skeptical science, fighting back with "not so fast!" — but in actuality they're just pointing to the mainstream scientific view on this particular topic. Kind of funny, really.
Plus the comment about "primordial fear" is just *weird*. It looks a lot a cat skeleton. Which I *guess* is scary, if you're easily frightened. ("Boo!")

Carvallo expects us to find "less ridiculous supporting articles on CNN or NYT"? It's called a miracle. He sounds biased and intolerant, and clearly proposes muzzling free speech - except his of course! Sounds like an ACLU fan. He may even be the "missing link". By the way, in the not too distant future we will find out that this "missing link" is another "scientific" hoax as was piltdown man.

This is a damn monkey! You dont have to be scienticist to see this, just go to your local zoo, take a few pictures of primates, and put your creative mind to work. They are trying to justify a foolish theory!
