Where to Go and What to See

Picture_7
If you just can't get enough of the political process during this campaign season, be sure to crash the "Political Party," an exhibition of Diana Walker's work as the White House photographer for Time magazine. During her career, Walker has been granted exclusive access to America's politicians, catching them in unguarded moments, of reflection, repose, and, perhaps most amusingly, joy.

I also recommend the "Who Shot Rock: Photographers of Rock and Roll" exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. The comprehensive exhibition of photographs from the 1950's until today is thoughtful in its presentation, with individual sections devoted to portraits, behind-the-scenes moments, musicians before they made it big, live performances, the fans, and--apropos to our current feature--album covers. The exhibit aims to show how the photographers that have documented musicians over the years have actually helped to shape rock and roll. -- Lindsay Sakraida
