Photographer Down in Myanmar

This Reuters photo from the front page of today's New York Times captures the moment after a Japanese photographer was wounded while covering a violent confrontation between protesters and government troops in Myanmar. The photographer, Kenji Nagai, who can be seen on the ground in the bottom right of the photo, later died.
    Nationwide protests over the past several days have provoked a strong response from Myanmar's ruling military junta. The nation's state-run television reported that nine civilians were killed and 11 wounded in yesterday's violence in the city of Yangon, while 31  soldiers had been wounded.

Ummm I thought Japan was a democracy? Guess they killed the guy showing that they are more militias then they like to be know for. How do they maintain such a veiled society? Oh yeah- STRICT DISCIPLINE!
