Online Shopping Declines
From today's New York Times, an article about Internet shopping--specifically, how the volume of online sales is flattening out and even declining. Apparently, say some experts, the Internet shopping experience can be frustrating for consumers. Really? In my experience, online shopping for cameras and gear is pretty positive. I really don't a get thrill out of shopping at big-box consumer electronics store, with the crowds and the sales people who greet my questions with blank stares. I'd like to hear back from everyone on their online shopping experience and whether they are doing more or less of it.

Ah, did anyone expect a 25% growth rate forever? The economics of the situation would predict a high growth rate until the interested population are all buying online. Then the growth rate would taper off to some lower fixed rate reflecting population growth.
And so that is what we are seeing. People who want to buy online are doing so, and the portion of the population who is intersted but has not done so, perhaps because they still lack high speed access is small.

I haven't been to Best Buy since 2002 and don't intend to come back. I'd rather have a root canal than go to the Apple store on a Saturday. I do enjoy browsing at small stores but honestly, how many of those are still around? I try to support them as best I can, but sometimes it's just easier to click that cart. Don't know who this article is talking about either as most people I know are in the same boat.
