Where to Go and What to See

Brooksweb If you're not sure what kind of photography you're in the mood for this weekend, the International Center of Photography will make it easy for you—it opens four separate shows this weekend, emcompasing fashion, photojournalism, film and "fantastica."

Martin Munkácsi: Think While You Shoot! honors the photographer credited with introducing movement and environment to the previously static, studio-only world of fashion photography. ICP will also display a collection of photographs and film stills of Louise Brooks and other strong females from the days of Weimar Cinema. Henri Cartier-Bresson's Scrapbook: Photographs, 1932-46, gathers photos and actual pages form the scrapbook the master used to plan the MoMA exhibit that was originally planned as his retrospective when he was thought to have perished during WWII. Finally, ICP dishes up a selection of recent acquisitions, which "unveils a rich but little-noted strain of surrealism in American culture."
