Maine Photographic Workshops For Sale

"David Lyman, founder and owner of Maine Photographic Workshops and Rockport College, suspended at least some of the school's 2006-2007 academic year Aug. 22 and announced his intention to sell the institution's assets," writes Holly Anderson at www.villagesoup.com.

The organization's website states that Lyman is considering a number of options, "including selling the schools to a larger educational institution, a nonprofit organization, or a benefactor who can acquire the schools, retire the bank debt, and provide the two schools with financial stability. His deadline for completing this transition is November 1, 2006."

UPDATE: An inartfully worded headline previously stated that the workshops were closing, when in fact it looks like they are still open and trying to find a buyer to keep them going. Stay tuned.
